Create a custom Basic settings section

In the same way that you access the built-in Basic settings sections, you can also create a custom basic settings section and access it by navigating to Administration » Settings.

A custom basic settings section can serve you any purpose. For example, if you have a multisite Sitefinity CMS instance, you can use different basic setting sections to store settings for different sites from the multisite instance.

The following tutorial creates a general-purpose Basic settings sections that is different for the different sites from the Sitefinity CMS multisite instance. If your Sitefinity CMS instance is single site, the Basic settings section will still work.

To create basic settings, you need the following components:

  • Custom widget to display the settings
  • Configuration class
  • Settings contract
